Jeff Janssen
For
over a decade, top sports coaches and business leaders
have turned to Jeff Janssen to help them develop effective
leaders, build high- performance teams, and create
highly committed people. Not only has Jeff’s
work contributed to winning numerous NCAA National
Championships, he has also helped Fortune 500 companies
maximize performance, productivity, and profits in
the highly competitive corporate arena.
Janssen is the chief architect and lead instructor for comprehensive Leadership Academies at North Carolina, Stanford, Pittsburgh, Yale, and Illinois. Like GE’s famed leadership development program at Crotonville, the comprehensive Leadership Academies set the standard for leadership development and have positioned Jeff as the world’s top expert on leadership in sports.
Jeff
began his career at the
University of Arizona
as one of the nation’s
first and only full-time
Peak Performance Coaches
for a college athletic
department. Over
eight years at Arizona,
Jeff’s innovative
work on leadership, team
building, and peak performance
led to numerous National
Championships and Final
Four appearances in a
variety of sports. Jeff
was also instrumental in the department receiving
the NCAA’s inaugural “Program of Excellence”
Award for having
one of the nation’s
best personal development
programs.
Based
on his successes at Arizona, Jeff wrote the book
Championship
Team Building. The ground breaking
book shows leaders how to build cohesive, high- performance
teams that are compelled to achieve common goals.
The book has received rave reviews from both sports
coaches and business managers alike.
Because
of Janssen’s proven track record, numerous coaches
across the nation have sought out Jeff to speak to
and consult with their teams. Jeff has delivered
programs at many of the nation’s top programs
including Stanford, Tennessee, Texas, Florida, Arizona,
Florida State, LSU, Maryland, Colorado, Wisconsin,
North Carolina State, and dozens of other colleges.
It
didn’t take long for Fortune 500 companies like
FedEx Corp., New York Life, and Raytheon to discover
that the same peak performance principles Jeff was
using to help sports teams win national championships
could also be applied to help them gain a sustainable
competitive advantage. So in 1997, Jeff formed his
own consulting and training company, Janssen Peak
Performance, Inc. to provide programs to a wide range
of companies and sports teams seeking his expertise
and assistance.
In
2000, Jeff and a colleague interviewed many of sports
most successful and respected coaches including Mike
Krzyzewski, Pat Summitt, Roy Williams, and others in an effort
to discover their secrets of success. Their in-depth
research and analysis led to the writing of The
Seven Secrets of Successful Coaches™
and created an effective leadership model which Jeff
uses in his programs today. The proven model shows
leaders of all kinds how to help their people maximize
their potential.
A
Phi Beta Kappa graduate from Marquette University,
Jeff obtained his masters from the University of Arizona
in Sports Psychology. He is a member of the National
Speakers Association, ASTD, and several coaches’
associations.
Jeff
lives in the Raleigh/Durham area in Cary, North Carolina
with his lovely wife and business partner Kristi.
They have a son Ryan and daughter Jill. The
Janssens enjoy spending quality family time, traveling,
eating at great restaurants, reading, and playing
and watching sports of all kinds.
